Eligibility:You can apply for a scholarship if you meet the following requisites:
-You are a resident AND national of one of the following countries country list (not necessarily the same country for residence and nationality).
-You are not older than 40 years if you apply for a scholarship to follow a master programme. Or you are not older than 45 years if you apply for a scholarship to follow a training programme.
- You meet the academic admission requirements.
-You have the required English proficiency.

Scholarship Description: VLIR-UOS awards scholarships to students from developing countries so that they can follow a master or training programme in Flanders, Belgium. For 2012, VLIR-UOS awards 180 scholarships to first-year master students and 70 scholarships to training participants.

Eligibility:
-Applications are invited from eligible South African citizens who will register at the University of Cape Town, for fulltime study towards the Postgraduate Diploma and the Master’s degree in Nursing and Midwifery
1. Applicants must be in possession of a four year degree or equivalent. (NB: An equivalent is regarded as a 4 year diploma).
2. Individuals who are full-time salaried employees are ineligible. However, if full-time employed applicants intend to take leave-of-absence from employment to complete the degree, an official letter from employer indicating release for the full duration of the study period is required.
3. Applicants must show financial need (please see application procedure below).
4. Applicants who are in receipt of government-sponsored awards are ineligible to apply.
5. Successful candidates will be required to comply with the policies, procedures and practices of postgraduate funding at UCT.
6. Part-time employment of no more than 20 hours per week will be permitted.

Scholarship Description: A Scholarship Programme has been established by the Cockwell family, in memory of their mother, Daphne Cockwell, at the University of Cape Town in the Nursing and Midwifery Division of the faculty of Health Sciences. Applications are invited from eligible South African citizens who will register at the University of Cape Town, for fulltime study towards the Postgraduate Diploma and the Master’s degree in Nursing and Midwifery.

Commonwealth Scholarships

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC) is responsible for managing Britain’s contribution to the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), established in 1959, and supports around 700 awards annually.

Awards are funded by the Department for International Development (for developing Commonwealth countries), theDepartment for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Scottish Government (for developed Commonwealth countries), in conjunction with UK Universities. The CSC also nominates UK citizens for scholarships to study in other Commonwealth countriesunder the CSFP.

Marshall Scholarships

For U.S. citizens only, Marshall Scholarships are mainly funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and are overseen by the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission. They are founded by a 1953 Act of Parliament, and named in honour of US Secretary of State George C Marshall. The scholarships commemorate the humane ideals of the Marshall Plan and they express the continuing gratitude of the British people to their American counterparts.

Chevening Scholarships

The Chevening Scholarships programme started in 1984. It was originally called the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Scholarships and Awards Scheme. A few years later the name was changed to Chevening - after Chevening Housein the Sevenoaks District of Kent, which is currently the joint official residence of the Foreign Secretary and the Deputy Prime Minister.

Chevening Scholarships are for talented people who have been identified as potential future leaders across a wide range of fields including politics, business, the media, civil society, religion and academia. Most scholars undertake a one year master’s degree.

In the current academic year there are over 500 Chevening scholars at universities across the UK. The programme is mainly funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, with some contributions from Higher Education Institutions and other partners in the UK. Our Embassies and High Commissions also have partnership agreements with a wide range of overseas sponsors including governmental and private sector bodies. The programme is managed in UK and overseas by the British Council through a Service Level Agreement.
